Animals, games, a craft, supporting local nonprofits, variety of vendors to shop from, AND beautiful weather? We were lucky this past Saturday! All week the weather outlook did not look like we'd be able to have a market. Somehow the storm waited for us to have our market as planned. We invited all the nonprofits to join us for our animal day!

The nonprofits:
Lazy J Rescue Ranch
Due to other animals being at the market they didn't want to risk exposing their rescue animals. To make up for that, they had some awesome animal themed games along with merch for sale!

"Our mission at Lazy J Rescue Ranch is to provide a forever home for all animals who have been abused, neglected, or forced to feel unloved. Lazy J Rescue Ranch is currently the home for rescued animals as small as chickens to animals as large as llamas and everything in between."

Moffitt Animal Shelter
A couple cute dogs came to the market with Moffitt Animal Shelter on Saturday! They made an exciting Facebook post after the market; "We would just like to thank everyone for coming out to the Humboldt Farmer's Market this morning!! We had a family drive up from Ames to adopt one of our adorable “maybe babies” and Big Stella found her forever home too!!" How freaking awesome!

"[Our Mission] To provide a temporary sanctuary and shelter for unwanted, lost and neglected animals; to promote the humane care and treatment of dogs and cats through education and to actively advocate pet population control"

Peace Creek Animal Sanctuary & Rescue
They weren't able to bring any dogs with them this time, but they did have awesome tie dye shirts available for purchase! The amount they do for animals is incredible, and I'm so happy this organization is around!

"Rescue is our main focus. We have many excellent dogs that need good, loving homes. We keep our numbers small so that we are able to really get to know each rescue and learn what kind of home will be best for them."

Three Rivers Tails
Unfortunately, Three Rivers Tails wasn't able to join last minute, but I still want to highlight their organization! They've been to a couple other markets to raise money by selling items for dogs and their owners.
Their committee has been working hard all summer to make a dog park happen in Humboldt! Support them by buying products for dogs and owners alike!

This weeks craft was hosted by Diane Amundson! She had old unbraided rugs to make dog ropes out of. A perfect craft for kids and adults!
Adams Family Farm & Greenhouse brought some sheep with them! Jake and Liz have been regular vendors bringing their plants, rugs, and hand spun wool yarn, sometimes Liz brings her spinning wheel for live demonstrations. How fun to see their ewes down at the market!

What a fun market day!! I'm, unfortunately, living vicariously through the photos this week. This was the first Humboldt Farmer's Market I wasn't able to attend. What a market to miss! Sammi was kind enough to get me some focaccia from Emerald Sweets!
For supper last night I made pizza sticks out of the focaccia. It was so so so good! Highly recommend trying if you're also a lover of focaccia! I sliced it, drizzled olive oil on the pan, flipped the sticks on their side (putting the interior of the bread on the pan), drizzled some olive oil over the top, and topped it with cheese and my favorite pizza toppings. Baked at 450° for 5 minutes, broiled for a few minutes to get some color on the cheese. It was perfection!! I did dip the sticks in pizza sauce as I ate it. 12/10
Can you belive it?! We only have ONE Humboldt Farmer's Market left for the 2023 season! Let's end this year strong. Break out the fall sweaters, celebrate fall, and learn how to make sourdough with us in less than two weeks, Saturday October 7th!
If you'd like to become a vendor click here or email us at HumboldtFarmersMarket@gmail.com!
Until then stay safe, be kind and we'll talk soon!
