Touch a Truck 2025

race car and pace truckd

Saturday, July 12th was our 3rd annual Touch a Truck! We had the 600 block of Sumner Ave. blocked off so we could pack the street with vendors, trucks and other vehicles. Amy Nostrom did a great job organizing most of the Touch a Truck part! She came to us with this idea when we took over the market in 2023, and it's been one of our favorites every year! This year we had a firetruck, ambulance, Humboldt LEC vehicles, tractor, classic car, semi, race car, and pace truck. We were handing out scavenger hunt cards and any returned to the Three Rivers Kringla table got a sucker and stickers. We had at least 75 kids come get suckers!

Kiwanis did a Christmas in July kids' craft, painting wooden ornaments! They were also handing out popsicles and kids could say hi to Santa.

Josie (joco flowers) was set up for face painting to raise money for Moffitt Animal Shelter. Such a fun idea! I saw a lot of kitties and flowers painted on faces. Josie raised enough to buy a variety of food and supplies!

The Humboldt Area Arts Council had a couple of full, full table of baked goods to sell to raise money for their organization! Keeping the arts alive in our community is hard work. THIS Saturday, July 23rd they've organized another Music in the Park. It's located at Bicknell Park 6pm-8pm. There's also a craft night at Night Owl on the 2nd Tuesdays of every month. Check out their Facebook page for all info on current and future events.

Joe Hadar was set up again in front of Night Owl to play some music and crack some jokes! I was razzing Amy at the HAAC bake sale table about paying for her treat she was eating when I walked up. Naturally, Joe announced that a fight was about the break out. Then he asked me if people could go in the trucks/vehicles. I said it was up to the owners, but I was sure Dean Kruger would put anyone in the back that needed it. Joe said, "Hear that folks? Play your cards right and you could go to jail today!" I thought it was so funny!

The weather was perfect, although humid. It had rained hard overnight before the market but dry for our Saturday morning downtown. The breeze even had a slight chill to it, so it was perfect for walking around!
