Welcoming Fall at the Humboldt Farmer's Market

Apple/Honey Fest at the Humboldt Farmer's Market was yesterday. What a perfect start to fall! The morning air was crisp and overcast skies until the sun peeked out around 10am. The market was overall slower, but steady. Also, I'm not sure who told the bees about our theme, but they were out in full force for our market! They seemingly visited every vendor. Maybe they followed the honey vendors?

This time of year apples are falling and honey is being freshly harvested, and we wanted to have a market theme to highlight that as fall begins. We had two honey vendors and many other vendors transitioned to fall themes & flavors. We even had a produce vendor with pumpkins! The kid's craft was apple themed. The Humboldt County Memorial Hospital & Public Health was set up with apple cinnamon bread samples, recipes, and tons of other info.

The Humboldt Farmer's Market put on a caramel apple bar and a CyHawk raffle. All proceeds for both went back to the Humboldt Farmer's Market to keep us going and growing! Our little market has grown a lot over this season and we want to keep that momentum going. It's a community effort to put this on and keep it going. Sammi and I volunteer a lot of time to organize these markets, and we're so happy to see and hear all of the positive feedback. We've learned a lot this year and are excited to keep making the Humboldt Farmer's Market bigger and better!

For $5 market goers could get a bowl of sliced Granny Smith apples. They had the option to drizzle chocolate and caramel on top. Other toppings like marshmallows, crushed peanuts, crushed pretzels, mini chocolate chips, mini M&Ms, and rainbow sprinkles. Nothing says fall like a caramel apple, except maybe the CyHawk game.

It's definitely not fall until the Iowa State Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes play against each other. This year's winner was the Iowa Hawkeyes, as I'm sure most of you know. We had two sets of logo'd prizes (one for each team) consisting of a lawn chair, tumbler, stocking hat, and pair of socks. The raffle prizes were sponsored by WMBF Logistics, LLC. Tickets were $3 each or 2/$5. We gave everyone the opportunity to purchase before the market and at the market before drawing the winners. We drew the winners around 11:30. Angie Frerk won the Iowa set and Travis Johnson won the Iowa State set! Thank you too all who participated!

Bee'n Crafty has provided the kid's craft at the last two markets. This week's was apple themed! For $1 kids painted a tree then used a cut apple used as a stamp to place around the tree. Super cute and great for kids of all ages!

Last minute we had some vendors who couldn't make it, but we also had a couple more than we were expecting so it leveled out. A lot of produce was available this week!

This week we had some vendors set up in the plaza behind the statue again! It's been nice to have people in the plaza during our markets. It's kind of peaceful!

Well I don't know if you can believe it but we are down to the LAST TWO markets of the 2023 season! This season has gone by so fast; I can't believe it's almost come to an end.

We'll see you for Aniaml Day at the Humboldt Farmer's Market September 23rd! If you'd like to become a vendor click here or email us at HumboldtFarmersMarket@gmail.com!

Until then stay safe, be kind and we'll talk soon!
