We are entering our 4th season organizing the Humboldt Farmer's Market. Each year we are blown away. It truly gets better every year. We have received so much support and kind words throughout the years, but seeing the community really come out is the best kind of support. Huge thank you for all of our community, vendors, and sponsors for trusting us and showing up each year! We could not do it without you wanting the market to happen.

As always, we opened our market season Mother's Day Saturday. We had a chilly 45 or so degree morning (preferred over summer heat) with some strong wind and a few rain showers. There were a lot of vendors, multiple kids' activities, and live music! Our sponsor highlight for the week was Tastefully Simple with Shelly Jacobi. We just love the energy she brings to every market she attends!
To keep the Mother's Day kid craft tradition alive, I started seeds back in February for kids to pick out a flower for mom and decorate a card. It's become a personal challenge for me each year to grow the best seedlings I can. This year was the best yet! I even had a couple cosmos in bloom. I used a mix of seeds I harvested from my own garden and some packets I was able to pick up at the end of last season. The market pays for the dirt, any seeds I may pick up, and cups to use as containers, but I donate my time and space to make it happen. I grew nearly 90 cups of seedlings, enough for every kid passing by and for some fellow gardeners to add to their space for free will donation. We gave away more than we have any other year, ending with only about 15 or so. The Humbodlt Co. Democrats also brought rock painting supplies for an extra kids' craft on the other side of the statue!

We were so lucky to have some great live music! Some of the members of the Dows Jam Band came down to play, a couple driving quite a distance. Their bluegrass music filled the block and added so much life to the market! The rain ruined their first location set up, but Louise (Uptown Humboldt Mercantile) was kind enough to let them set up in front of her store under her awning. It was so nice of them to set up and join us. Looking forward to having them again sometime! When they finished up the rain had finished for the day and Carter Theesfeld was able to set up in front of Night Owl. He sang for us til the end of the market and beyond! I'm not sure how long he stayed there, but it made it hard for us to want to leave.

Our vendors filled the north side of the 600 block of Sumner, on the sidewalk and parking spaces and beyond the statue in the middle, filling the grass plaza. We had a lot of familiar faces and a lot of new! There were all kinds of food, eggs, produce, seedlings, metal artwork, fresh flowers, sports cards, 3d printed awesomeness, jewelry, books, and so many hand crafted items!
Our Vendors & Info Booths
WOW! Over 30 vendors. That is mind blowing for us. How awesome how far we've come from the maybe 5 or so vendors we started with in 2023. Of course the number of vendors will fluctuate each market, but what a way to kick off the season!
Join us for the next one Saturday, May 23rd, 8am-12pm.
Let's welcome summer with a fun photo booth (provided by 2View Photo&Design) with more great vendors and local products!
REMINDER: Our market runs 2nd & 4th Saturdays May-September

Until then stay safe, be kind and we'll talk soon!
