Our 2026 Touch a Truck Market

Saturday, June 27th was our 4th annual Touch a Truck! It was market number 4 in our 2026 season. Our day was sponsored by a couple great businesses on our block, Function First Spine & Sport and Uptown Humboldt Mercantile! Each year the truck/vehicle portion is organized by Amy Nostrom. She brought this theme idea to us the first year we were organizers and it's been one of our favorites each year! We also greatly appreciate Amy for being willing to make the calls for Touch a Truck to happen!
We've been so lucky so far this year (knock on wood) when it comes to weather. It was the day before our super hot heat wave, so it was perfect! Probably our last chilly start to a market for a couple months...though I wouldn't complain if it wasn't.

The trucks/vehicles were placed on the south side of the block by 9am. We had the street blocked off so kids and families could safely walk/run around. This year we had a John Deere tractor, Sports Park Raceway pace truck, a semi courtesy of MS & Sons Corp, Humboldt Co. Sheriff, Humboldt ambulance, Humboldt police, and the Humboldt firetruck! The Sheriff's office was blowing up balloons for kids. The Humboldt Co. Memorial Hospital was set up by the ambulance giving out bike helmets to the first 60 kids. We also had each vehicle set up with scavenger hunt cards to bring back to us for a sucker! It's so much fun watching kids get to crawl in and around vehicles they normally can't. Less fun for the adults when they made sirens go off.
The Humboldt Public Library added to the fun this week with root beer floats! They also had some houseplants for sale that were leftover from a planting event they did. All proceeds went to the Humboldt Public Library Foundation to support the summer reading program. I can confirm the root beer float was delicious!

For music this week we were lucky enough to have Carter Theesfeld again for the first half in front of Night Owl Books. About 10am he packed up and Joe Hadar set up. Joe played us to the end of the market.
We had another great group of vendors this week that were set up at 8am. All of our vendors were set up on the north side. To keep all the fun in the street we didn't have any vendors set up in the plaza, but we did have some around the statue. It was a slow start that had some newer vendors nervous, but we knew the crowds would really show up at 9am (and they did)! We like to give the early birds a chance to shop before the chaos.

We try our best to have fun events/themes at the market, and also hope the community still shops from vendors. From what I could see in my brief walking around it looked like people were shopping! I love to see that!
Thank you to everyone who showed up to support this fun event.
Our next market will be filled with art and craft stations! It's our 4th annual ARTS FEST! Whoop WHOOP!
