Our First Ever Puzzle Swap!

We had another beautiful day at the Humboldt Farmers Market Saturday, September 12th. It was great temperature wise, but the wind gusts did force a couple vendors to take town their canopies. We had a lot going on. Our awesome sponsor 97.7 The Bolt set up with their canopy and played their station, our FIRST ever puzzle swap, the Humboldt Public Library fundraisers, and Humota Theater with their Cy-Hawk kid activity for game day!

Humota Theater has been setting up with free kids' activities and selling buckets of their popcorn, shaved ice, and their merch. Last Saturday they had a Cy-Hawk bracelet activity. Kids didn't even need to craft them there. They could grab the supplies to take home! They've signed up to host a kids' activity when they set up. We're so thankful for that! The Humota Theater is a nonprofit and they're in need of help with a leaking ceiling. Contact them if you'd like to donate.

The Humboldt Public Library had two fundraisers going on to raise money for a new A/C unit. They had the bucket fundraiser set up like they had at the August 22nd market. There was a $3, $5, or $10 bucket to donate to and pick a prize from that section. The other fundraiser was "Blind Date with a Book". It was so much fun. Each book was individually wrapped. On the front they had written the genre, rating, and a blurb of what it's about along with a pocket that had a bookmark and sticker. It was $5 per book. Julie Larson (Library Director) said that they began with about 90 books and left with 9. That blew me away! The bill to replace the A/C unit is a very big expense, so if you are able please donate to the library by contacting Julie.

For years we've had the idea to do a puzzle swap at our market and we decided this year is it! We put a call out to clean our your puzzle closets and donate then come grab some new ones. We had two 6' tables full of puzzles! It was so much fun! We had a lot of people participate. There was a good amount left at the end of the market. Julie Larson said they'd be willing to take some 500 piece and below to have going at the library. Did you know you could spend some time putting together puzzles at the library? I didn't know that until she talked to us about it. Anyways, we donated the ones she thought would work at the library and the rest went home with the Humboldt County Democrats for their book sale they have every spring. We wanted to donate them to somewhere that wouldn't include rotting in one of our basements. We were happy to be able to donate them!

Of course we had a great group of vendors set up! Not as many as we've had at some markets, but it's about quality not quantity. We had a lot of variety is products available!
