First Market of 2025

What a beautiful day to kick off the 2025 season at the Humboldt Farmer's Market!! The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky, and we had a slight breeze. It started off chilly but shot to 80+°F in no time. A little warm for some of us vendors, me being the loudest. Ultimately a gorgeous day, though!

We started, once again, Mother's Day Saturday; May 10th this year. The kids' craft for the opening market is my all time favorite! The craft area was set up on the south side of the Parley Finch Plaza statue, between the canopies of Three Rivers Kringla and this week's sponsor, Tastefully Simple with Shelly. We also had some reusable shopping bags with our logo on it and vinyl stickers of our logo available for free will donation.
All of our donations go right back to the market to keep us going and growing! It allows us to do kids' crafts and pay for multiple forms of signage and advertising. This year we were able to upgrade from the hand painted wooden signs I made in 2023 to sturdier metal frames with banners on them.

I started a bunch of flower seedlings for this kids' craft. Each kid picked out one flower for mom and a Mother's Day card to color. I brought over 50 various flower seedlings to choose from: impatiens, cosmos, sunflowers, snapdragons, and marigolds. With what was left, I'd say at least 40 kids participated in the craft. We never know how many kids will show up, but I'm blown away by that many for our first market.
We're blown away by the turn out, period. The north sidewalk and the plaza was packed with people for most of the time! The first half hour to an hour is always the slowest part of every market, which we were grateful for since we had so much to set up for last week. It was like 9am hit and the flood gates opened with people.
Cracked Reeds (saxophone quartet) joined us again! They've been to a couple/few markets in the past. We love having live music fill the block during our farmers market. They started playing around 10am and sounded fantastic!

We had an amazing group of vendors, too! Just over 20 set up and sold a wide variety of products! Vendor photo route start East of the statue, around the plaza, and to the West of the statue!

We are definitely bias, but we love our little farmers market. Especially as it grows! Hard to believe in 2023 we started with like 4 or 5 vendors for our first day. We've grown a lot since then, and it's all thanks to our awesome community for supporting it! Without you coming to the market our vendors wouldn't be able to set up.
Also, a HUGE thanks to all of our sponsors this year! This week we highlighted Shelly Jacobi with Tastefully Simple. She's been a huge supporter of us and the market since we met. Our sponsors, whether businesses or individuals, make our big advertising and signage possible. Thank you's all around!!
We are just a week from our next Humboldt Farmer's Market!
