We took our annual field trip down to the Humboldt County Fair last Saturday, July 26th! This was our 3rd year doing this and each year gets better! During our 8am-12pm market there was a horticulture show going on in the Polka Hall, 4-H swine shows, and I think mud volleyball was starting as we were packing up.

We set up in the grass N of the Polka Hall building in the middle of the fairgrounds. There was just enough room between the little shelter area and tractors and implements on display to have our vendors set up in a U shape with a couple vendors in the middle The 96% humidity that morning was a little much, but we were rewarded with overcast and a chilly breeze most of the time. Around 11 it felt like it jumped 15° in a minute. It was the best weather we could've had for this time of year.

Cracked Reeds, saxophone quartet, was kind enough to join us around 10am to start playing. They had quite the crowd enjoying the music under the little shelter area. I say it every time; having live music at the market is my favorite! It makes everything more lively. Plus, it's fun with a group like Cracked Reeds playing the music and being able to sing along with them (aloud or in your head, I don't judge).
Josie has been a rockstar this season at the Humboldt Farmer's Market! She does a great job at her booth (joco flowers) and creating beautiful chalk art most weeks. Lately, she's been setting up a table offering face painting to raise money for the Moffitt Animal Shelter. Such a fun idea!
We had some new vendors and some we haven't seen in awhile setting up! Kenny Steele back with his produce and joco flowers had some beautiful (and one angry looking) green bell peppers!
